Found the perfect agent. Their website states that they don't read unsolicited work. Any trick to getting by this? Is it a waste of time/postage?

query the agent, once they ask for your material, youre solicited, 'unsolicited' doesnt count 'queries'

It only applies to queries if they specifically say "unsolicited queries." In those situations you have to have a referral to the agent (like from a client or something). Otherwise the agents typically mean they don't accept unsolicited manuscripts. Once you query them and they ask for the ms, it's no longer unsolicited.
