I'm having a problem. I didn't clean out my cookies, but I came to AW the other day, and the forum didn't recognize me. Now I have to sign in all the time - sometimes even in the middle of an AW session.

What's going on? Is it just me, or are we experiencing technical difficulties? Does anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks!

Susan G.

I had this same thing happen to me just recently, and traced it back to my new Windows Security Update. Apparently, it cleaned out all of my "Allowed" sites from my Control Panel and I had to reinstall them. (That is, if you USE Windows). As soon as I put it back in, it's worked fine.

If you want to give it a try, here's how:

Control Panel > Internet Options > Privacy (third tab) > Sites (left middle button)

Then type in the website here (without spaces) www . absolutewrite.com and click "Allow"

Click Okay and then Okay again at the next screen and that should do it!

Hope it helps! :)

Thanks, Cathy! I've tried it (your instructions were GREAT!) and hopefully that will help. I'll let you know when I come back next time if it worked or not. <G>

yeah, Susan--let me know, too, if you solve this; cuz my desktop just did the same thing. My laptop is fine, though.

This is not really a fix but perhaps a way to identify the cause ... is everybody who has this issue using IE? Or is it split between different browsers? Can we have a show of hands? :p I'm not experiencing the issue BTW - just trying to help :)

Nope. Firefox.

I'll log in and either the forum or my own computer forgets that I've done so--mid post, sometimes.

Find the absolute write cookie(s), and delete it. See if that helps.

I seem to have that issue every now and then from my home computer, and I'm on firefox. The cookie purge usually fixes it for a month or so.

OK, so scratch the browser angle :p How about a firewall? Do you have one installed? There probably is one common factor amongst all the people who have this issue and if we can just isolate the common factor .... Or if XThe NavigatorX's suggestion works for you, you can always learn to live with the issue ... :p

Well, I still haven't managed to fix it. I'm using IE. HOWEVER, I came in here this morning, and presto. The place recognizes me, at least for the moment.

Yesterday I would log in, and ten minutes later, without even leaving the site, it didn't recognize me again.

Today, just as magically, presto, it "knows" me.

Very weird. I prefer today, though. :) I was so happy to come in here and see my name in the upper right hand corner, being welcomed. Yeaaay! Now here's hoping it stays that way.

But I assure you, it was nothing *I* did that fixed it. <G>
