One that comes to mind is Dorothea Lange, the famous photographer of the depression era. She had polio as a child.

There must have been millions of them. Do you need famous ones, or ones working in specific fields? Well-known ones? Because, really - there must have been so many.

Frida Kahlo was a childhood polio survivor. The disease left her right leg damaged. Also, she was critically injured in a bus accident in 1925, and was left disabled for many years thereafter.

Photographer Dorothea Lange also had polio as a child and was left with a weakened right leg and a limp.

Rosemary Sutcliff is a little late for you as she was born in 1920 and her success came after the 1930s, but read Blue Remembered Hills, her autobiography, for growing up in 1930s with a disability. Also read it because it is worth reading :)
