I am on a couple different "free/low cost" book email lists. And I thought I'd share one that has become a favorite now. The author's name is Robert Bevan and his full length book is called "Critical Failures". I'm nit sure it would appeal to you if you aren't 1) a pen/paper roleplay game player or 2) at least familiar with the concept. But I found the book (and all his same world short stories) highly entertaining. It all starts with friends gathering together to run a C&C (Caverns &Creatures) campaign with a DM. They end up highly offending said DM and he, by way of a set of magical dice, send them into the game world. I won't say any more than that so that if you are interested you can discover the fun all on your own. He now has the 2nd full length novel in the works, but he has plenty of short stories out there to keep you tided over until its release.
