We've got little peepers! :LilLove:

Yep, Dad finally got the grandkids chickens a couple weeks ago. They're going to be a combination of pets and egg-layers.

Here they are in a box while their cage is being cleaned.

Huddle in the group on the left are Chick, Annabeth (aka Annie), and Zoey. The two on the right are Melodee and Silver (aka Silvie). We're keeping them in an old rabbit cage until the weather gets more temperate, and Dad can put up the run.

I never thought I could love chickens so much, but their cute little cheeping just melts my heart!

P.S. Guess which one my 3 year-old nephew names. :D

So cute! My dad has chickens. They are so happy and that is so much fun to watch. Love the names. Especially Chick. ^_^

I freely admit to being afraid of chickens in their final form, but the beta versions are pretty darn cute. :D I love baby birds.

Awwww. Fuzzbabies are so cute. We just got some new chicks, too. :)

Are they all pullets? What breeds did you get?

They're all girls; we're not allowed to have roosters in town. If I recall correctly, Chick is a buff Orpington, Annie's a Welsummer, Zoey's a Rhode Island Red, Melodee's an Ameraucana, and Silvie's a Blue Andalusian. Can't say I know a great deal about them other than what I read on Wikipedia, but they sound like they're going to grow up to be fine chickens.

This pic is about a week old, so they look a bit different now. They're getting wing feathers and a couple of them are getting tail feathers, too. Zoey and Melodee already show signs that they'll have real pretty wings.

The fun thing about farm animals is that you get to enjoy them when they're cute and cuddly and when they grow up to be smelly and aggressive you can eat them!

Really, though, they are awfully cute. I've always wanted chickens, but my dog would enjoy them a bit too much.
