Well, v1.0, of course, and many other versions will follow, but writing the final chapter was something! Now the tedious work begins as I have done absolutly no editing while writing.

To help, I've just set myself another goal while editing : re-writing a short story (and editing it at the same time). I hope to finish it by the end of the month. It should be pretty short, a re-writing of one I've written years ago but lost. So the whole storyline's done. And it should be very short. About 1-2k. This will be my first beta-readers demand on the forum.
The second one will be for my first and second chapters once I've edited them.

Thanks. I still have huge steps to take but it's a good start. It was my first goal.

Congratulations! I just finished my first draft of my first novel, and it's definitely an accomplished feeling! Letting it all soak in before I dive into revisions :)

CGs! Now all the clay's on the table, ready to shape!

Don't worry that the draft is "raw." In my experience, there's no need to edit as you go along in a first draft. Each day I will do a minor edit of the previous day's work, but until I have the whole thing before me to analyze, I don't hold with major (especially structural) edits.

I remember the feeling of finishing my "first" first draft. A good feeling. Congratulations, and good luck.

Thanks everyone
BTW it is about 81k long, which might be a bit short for a fantasy. But I don't want to add unnecessary chapters just for the sake of word counting.
