View Full Version : Finished my first draft! (after almost giving up)

So I finished the first draft of my dark contemporary YA ms HIS & YOURS & NEVER MINE!

It's only at 40k at the moment, and I know there's still half a mountain left to climb with edits and betas and querying - but I am so pleased to have been able to type those magical words "The End". Before this one I had a dry spell - my third ms, finished in 2012, was a total disappointment, and since then I've started and discarded idea after idea. This was the only one that really stuck, and even though it's a very risky/difficult subject and therefore will probably be impossible to sell, I really wanted to finish it to prove to myself that I'm still a writer.

I'm so happy :)

Woo! Great job! Getting the first draft finished is always one of the hardest parts, in my opinion, because you actually have to know where the story is going and complete it!

Have a drink (wine, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, you name it!) and celebrate! You've definitely earned it.

Good luck with editing and beyond!

Thanks everyone!

I'm just hoping that someone wants to take a chance on a gender-swapped LIVING DEAD GIRL (from the POV of the kidnapper's daughter). lol

Congratulations! What an accomplishment! Not too many people can say they've written a novel! Now you can!
