At the last London meet, I did say that everyone should come up to Birmingham for a meet. And then promptly forgot about it! LOL! But Eyeblink reminded me and I'm up for arranging if anyone is interested. I know a few good pubs, ranging from ultra-hipster to Old Vic. And there's loads of hotel accommodation should anyone need it. It's dead easy to get here by whatever transport you wish to use. Let me know how you're getting here and I tell you a good meeting point.

So please, fill in the poll and I'll get going on it. And obviously all those from the North are more than welcome!

Cool. That will be into the middle of the city centre and not far from the Markets. I'll find a good pub near there.

I say yes too, and I'll be travelling by train as well.

I would love to Miranda, but I doubt I'll be able to make it. It's a bit too out of my comfort zone. Sorry! Hope you guys enjoy it though :D

That's cool, JT. No worries.

Nice one Crunch.

I haven't thought about dates. Maybe late summer?

I've only just seen this and am definitely up for it. I've wanted a non-London meet-up for a long time, but with the job that ate my brain, I sadly no longer have the mental energy to do much of anything, much less plan an event.

Thanks for organising it, Miranda! I'll probably drive.

No problem.

So I'm thinking late summer, pub near the coach and train station. Quite a few candidates in mind.

Terie, do you know Birmingham at all? If not, I'll find out where the best parking is.

You might want to avoid August, as quite a few people will be at Nine Worlds (Heathrow) and Loncon (London) and I will be at Frightfest (also London) for some of Bank Holiday weekend. Also, the first weekend in September is Fantasycon (York). But other than that, I can do any time in theory.

Ah yes, that's a good idea. I'll have a look at the Calendar and see which weekend has nothing on.

Sounds fine to me. As I say above, I can get to Birmingham and back in a day by train so will be travelling that way - via Reading rather than via London, as it will be cheaper!

I might be able to make it. I can either stay with Brum or Notts friends. We're hoping to move to the midlands this year (Notts area) so I might not even need to scrounge a place to stay depending on when it happens. :)

I'll do some checking on my calendar at work and sort some dates on Tuesday.

It'll be good to see you again, Maythe! And I owe you some chips.

Having suffered with that or possibly ME - they never did make up their minds - for several years* I sympathise. Some days it's like thinking through treacle

Thank you. My short term memory is shot to shit. It's a total lottery what I remember and what I don't. I have to leave myself notes all over the shop.

Right, will put this on my work diary.

Just noticed this thread. Possibly I might be able to come. I'd probably be driving up (from Bristol), if so. Parametric's in my neck of the woods. Maybe I can twist her arm to come with me (depending on when the meet is). :D
