What are your all-time favorite Saturday Night Live skits & commercials? They can be specific episodes, or just recurring skits in general. I got the idea from something I posted in the Favorite Comedian thread.

My favorites:

Of specific episodes:

Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze both try out to be dancers for Chippendale's.

Chris Farley dressing up like a Lunch Lady as Adam Sandler sang Lunch Lady Land. "Navy beans, navy beans, navy beans..."

Rosie O'Donnell & Penny Marshall dressing up like nuns while Whitney Houston and Mary Katherine Gallagher sang Christmas songs.

Canteen Boy - Alec Baldwin and Adam Sandler in a sleeping bag together.

Alec Baldwin on the NPR show, talking about his Schwetty balls.

Of recurring skits:

Coffee Talk with your host Linda Richman

All the Mary Katherine Gallagher ones

Matt Foley, you know, Chris Farley going "I live in a van down by the riverrrr!"

Church Chat with the Church Lady

Sally O'Malley - "I'm fifty, fifty years old. And I can kick, and I can stretch, and I'm fifty, fifty years old."

Toonsis - the cat who could drive

Wayne's World

Commercials:

Martha Stewart Topless Christmas

Shmitts Gay Beer

Oops I Crapped my Pants (Depends type advertisement)

I like old SNL. Roseanna Roseannadanna has to be close to the top of my favorite charachters.

Eddie Murphy doing:
- "How come no black movies ever get Oscars?" He couldn't even make it through the bit without laughing. 'Scream, Blacula, Scream!'
- "I'm Gumby, dammit"
- the Forgotten Beatle: "Yeah, man, we used to be called the Clarences." "What instrument did you play?" "Saxophone." (song) "I wanna hold your ha-a-a-nd... (man!)"

Gilda Radner as Roseanne Rosannadanna, talking about meeting Gloria Vanderbilt in the ladies' room.

The Pepsi Syndrome

"Jane, you ignorant slut."

Franken and Davis, when Al Franken has become a Hare Krishna.

Dennis Miller on Weekend Update. He's just too good for TV.

Master Thespian: "It's okay... I was only... ACTING!" (Jon Lovitz in anything. Underrated.)

Chris Farley and Martin Lawrence as "Scared Straight" motivational speakers in prison.

Farley: "Cigarettes and b!tches! That's what it's all about!!!

------------------
Will Ferrell: "GET OFF THE DAMN SHED!!!" (I couldn't stop laughing.)
------------------
Debbie Downer. It seemed everytime they tried to do one of these sketches, everyone ends up completely losing it and cracking up. There was one where Lindsay Lohan hosted and one where Ben Affleck hosted.
------------------
I like the 'play on words' sketches they've done recently:

Colonel Angus
Cork Soakers

following the breadcrumbs back to AW
Alec Baldwin playing an actor on a medical show, and he mispronounces all the medical terms. Making "canal" rhyme with "anal" was sidesplitting!

Oh, and Buckwheat's commercial for a music album was awesomely funny.

I love the old days when it was actually funny. Chevy Chase falling down as Gerald Ford. John Belushi's Samuri deli skits. Steve Martin and Dan Akroid as Two Wild and Crazy Guys.

As far as commercials, I liked their take on Smuckers. With a name like Monkey Puss, it's got to be good.

My favorite commercial of all time was one I didn't even realize was a commercial at first. This was in the days when they had just invented 2 blade razors. They had a commercial for the "Track 3" or something with three blades. "The first blade snags the hair and pulls it out, the second blade grabs onto the hair and pulls it out a little more, then the third blade comes along and rips it out by the roots!" Funny stuff at the time, but who would have thought that one day we would have 3, 4 and now 5 bladed razors?

Gah! I sound like my grandpa! Why in my day we didn't have no fancy schmancy multi-bladed razors. We had flint, by gum!

I loved it. It was much better than Cats. I will go see it again and again.

:)

This could be all time favorite. (Anyone not know what I'm referring to?)

I liked SNL when Dana Carvey was on. So funny and so good at doing impersonations.

But my favorite character of his was the Grumpy Old Man who gave his opinions during the Weekend Updates. "In my day, we didn't have....(whatever)...and we had to....(whatever)...and ya liked it, ya LOVED IT!"

So many faves...but here's a few off the top of my head:

-Chris Farley figure skating
-Any Jeopardy sketch with Sean Connery ("The day is mine, Trebek!")
-Anything Amy Poehler's in
-Eddie Murphy's Gumby
-Steve Martin's King Tut
-Mike Myer's hyper hypo. The one where he plays a little kid that's over hyper tethered to some monkey bars then someone gets him chocolate and he tears the monkey bars out of the ground. Then in the next scene you see him running down the road with the monkey bars dragging behind him.
-Hanz and Franz.

Man, I could go on forever but I'll stop there...

I love that one, Dave. Fortunately, I have a friend from my old store who still laughs with me at 25-year old humor. We'll never grow up.

Other favorites: The Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. The Sensitive Naked Man. The Shark. Terri Garr and Father Guido Sarducci selling pope outfits for the People's Catholic Church, where everyone can be the pope. Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood. Steve Martin with an arrow through his head.

Needs. More. Cowbell.

Already mentioned, but Celebrity Jeopardy. "Just write down a number. Any number. Like a three." Sean Connery's answer: "Suck it, Trebek."

There was also a Gatorade-esque commercial for Cookie Dough. "Love Hurts" is playing in the background, all these athletic types playing basketball and running and sweating like crazy, and they start swigging gobs of cookie dough out of those plastic Gatorade bottles. So incredibly stupid, but it cracks me up every time.

Adam Sandler doing the Opera guy.

Bob Dole in the Real World house, where they throw him out, and he's dragging his chair down the street while REM's "Everybody Hurts" plays.

SPROCKETS

"My name is Simon. I like to do drawrings! Stop looking at my bum... bum-looker! Cheeky monkey!"

School of Handsome Acting

More commercials:

Jewess Jeans (with the Star of David stitching on the pocket)
The Khaddafi Look ("drillin'... killin'... invading Chad... Khaddafi had the loooook")
'Hey You'... the perfume for one-night stands

The Grammys, with Alec Baldwin as Bono ("hope I'm not BOOGIN' ya!"), Dana Carvey as a loopy Paul McCartney, but best of all, Saint Phil Hartman as Frank Sinatra ranting at Jan Hooks as Sinead O'Connor ("Hey, Cueball! When somebody gives you an award, you say THANK YOU! I'm talkin' to YOU, Mr. Clean!")

Anything with Phil Hartman. R.I.P.

Tom Hanks as Mr. Short Term Memory.

Baldwin as a really bad master of impressions.

"More cowbell." Nuff said.

Recently, the Chronicles of Narnia Rap skit was hysterical.
