Just in the past 5 minutes here I've seen 'defiantly' for 'definitely', 'persay' for 'per se', numerous 'it's' for 'its' and many other wild apostrophes.

Buck up, people. We're supposed to be writers.

*Idea* Yes, Ken should be the community spelchekker alright.

Fabby idea. Think he'll do it? :D:D:D

(I admit to frequent apostrophe abuse and I probably don't edit all of it away, either. *cringe*)

Ok ok, I own the persay. In my defense, I did not have any coffee and I was not wearing my glasses AND I was swiping on a virtual keypad. Back off Willie, I'm still under Caffeinated:tongue

Huh.

The other, other wild apostrophes are more egregious than the simple other ones, right?

One could also mention the many your/you're and there/their/they're atrocities committed daily.

But I will admit to occasionally letting slip the wrong form of "its" and making other homophone mistakes. Sometimes there's just a break in the brain-keyboard connection.

You just had to mention this . . .

I hope you like the can of worms ya openeed :p

(Okay, so it's a fair point, but still. I think people will catch most of their errors, and should be forgiven the rest. It's not like this is their manuscript, and there are so many factors that might dictate why -- tablets, phones, etc. multiply that factor by x1000)

When I was in fourth grade I was third runner-up in my elementary school's spelling bee. I was in mortal combat with a bunch of fifth graders and sixth graders until the bitter end, when I finally misspelled a word and got the boot. One fifth grade girl and two fifth grade boys placed ahead of me and went on to the district finals.

For some reason I can't recall the word that got me eliminated. (You know that old saying, "If you can remember the 1970s, you weren't there"). ;)

Irregardless of weather someone spells correctly, your going to find that their are other qualities witch mite make a post worthwhile. You might want to let this one lay.
