I am trying to research what palace Henry VIII used frequently before he was given Hampton Court in 1528. My WIP takes place in 1527, so immediately before is what I'm looking for. I would imagine he would have moved his court before winter and right after winter, so I believe he had a few principle residences. Does anyone know one of them?

In God I dwell, especially in Eugene OR
Sat Nam! (literally "Truth Name"--a Sikh greeting)

He had a bunch of palaces, most within shouting distance of London. Bridewell was one he built.

The Royal Palaces of Tudor England by Simon Thurley has maps, diagrams and lots of other useful information...including the bit about Bridewell. You can probably get it on interlibrary loan from your local library. Not sure if it's still in print, but you might be able to find a used copy.

Blessings,

Greenwich (Placentia) and Eltham seem to have been two of the major palaces in use at that time.

Thanks! I actually thought about using Greenwich. Do you know which seasons it would have been used in?
