Okay, so I think I may have sleep-walked last night. I don't think I left my bedroom, but...

Okay, here's the thing. I was exhausted last night, and decided to lay down. So I was wearing long pants, boxer shorts, T-shirt and jacket, under the covers. I remember thinking, "Hmm, I'm getting warm. I've really got to get out of these clothes." But I just didn't have the energy to get up and take them off. That's the last thing I remember.

So I woke up this morning wearing just boxer shorts. Before I got up and turned on the light, I was racking my brain for a memory of getting undressed. Nothing.

Got up, turned light on, and my excess clothes were in a pile on the floor. Normally I'd put the pile closer to the door, near the light switch, and normally it'd be a messy pile. This morning it was closer to my desk, and rather... neat. Not folded, but condensed.

I checked the main areas of the house, and I don't appear to have done anything else in my sleep. But I guess I was sleepwalking?

It's a very odd feeling to have done something without knowing about it, and to have no memory of the fact.

Anyone else had experience with this? I've never sleepwalked in my life, so it's very weird right now.

You don't remember what was billed as One Night in Heaven? You'll see the charge on your next credit card statement. Don't worry, they raised your limit.

LOL. Does this mean I'm a porn star now, or were there no cameras?

And come to think of it, this sort of thing has happened once before... That time (several years ago) I went to sleep wearing only boxers, and woke up naked with the boxers on the pillow next to me. WTF?

It seems I really like taking my clothes off in my sleep! If only I'd had a relevant dream at the same time... :tongue

While you were sleeping, The Hunt for Red October began in earnest. John Wayne came in and saved the Day. You had Breakfast at Tiffany's, There was Murder on teh Orient Express. The Pink Panther solved the crime. Batman was flying around like a crazy person and was arrested by Spiderman to make things normal. The Maid in Manhattan is the one who put your clothes into a pile.

Nothing unusual happened at all. It was a pretty normal night.

One question, Cliff:

Did you notice any *battery acid* in your bed?

Describes several years of my life.
I hate to say you get used to it... but you get used to it.

Happened to me once in my late 20s. I remember getting into bed the night before (completely sober), but I woke up in the laundry room under a pile of dirty laundry. Absolutely no recollection of how I got there or why.

Nothing like that has happened since.

And it still bothers me sometimes.

I had a friend who used to undress in her sleep if she got too hot. A bit embarrassing that time she kipped on the floor of a male friend's dorm room.

I can't explain your noctural tidiness, however. She would just wrestle herself free, fling the article of clothing in question, then put her head down again.

I do know I'm capable of waking up, talking to people, then going back to sleep and having no memory of it the next day. That may have been what happened to you.

Yep. I've done the exact same thing for the same reason. It was hot, the AC wasn't doing it's job - I woke up the next morning wearing decidedly less than what I went to sleep in. It was extremely disorienting, but I've only ever done it the one time. (Thank GOD I was alone in that guest room!)

That sounds less like sleepwalking than like you just maybe gradually took stuff off and dropped it in a small pile - perhaps the pile was more condensed because you were dropping the things one by one from your hand, rather than if you were standing and undressing with stuff being pulled off over your head, pants dropping the other way, etc.

A friend of mine in h.s. had a sister who walked in her sleep. It'd have been nice if undressing and getting back into bed was what she did. I don't mean that in any creepy way; I mean the times I was there that the sister walked in her sleep she did odd things and we found her odd places.

Once we all got up - no one knew she'd been up in the night - to find she'd hidden shit all over. Shoes in the oven, behind radiators, potholders and their magnetic hooks relocated to the back of the fridge, etc., etc. Once she was found out on the fire escape, asleep but sitting and talking, etc.

I think you just did the equivalent of kicking off the covers, basically.

That is creepy... the Exorcism of Emily Rose comes to mind!

I used to sleepwalk as a kid, from the time I was around five to around eight. One time my father found me in front of the television set staring at screen. (The TV was off and it was around five in the morning. Maybe I was waiting for Spiderman to begin).

Another time--which I don't remember at all but my parents used to tell time and again--happened when I was about eight. It seems that I got up around two in the morning during the middle of winter, got dressed in a pair of boots and nothing else (I was wearing pajamas) and wandered outside and down the street. Good thing no one was on the road. My father told me later on that I was walking down the center of the road on the way to the shopping mall.

I eventually grew out of it, but it was a very unsettling thing to have happen.

A friend at University used to sleepwalk too. We all came back from a night out once to find him standing in his boxer shorts outside the front door of our place. It was the middle of winter, so we ushered him back inside and put him back in his room, but he didn't seem completely with it the whole time. The next morning, he had absolutely no recollection of it. I think he still believes we made the whole thing up, but we didn't.

Hiding in this box I made.
I sleep-crafted in my teen years. I never left my bedroom or undressed though.

I found myself multiple times on the opposite side of the room, or sitting up on my bed holding some craft materials. Once I had somehow managed to thread a beading needle and get 5 green beads on it in my sleep.

That kinda freaked me out, that I could have no memory of doing something so precise.

A relative of mine has a husband who sleepwalks, and some of her stories are fairly hilarious. For a start, you can't tell the husband that he's asleep or he'll gets really angry at you, insisting he's not, so you have to play along with the logic of his dream and try to convince him that he would like to go back to bed now.

My relative says the worst/funniest one was when they were at a bed and breakfast inn. She wakes up to find her husband stark naked and peeing in the trash can. So she tells him he really needs to take that to the bathroom and dispose of it. So he does--still naked. My relative is by then laughing into her pillow and praying no one else is awake to see him.

When he comes back, he's covering himself with a pillow. That he got from one of the other guest rooms.

Apparently he didn't wake anyone up when he started wandering into random bedrooms looking to pilfer someone's pillow, but OMG.

Okay, jj, your relative wins the thread by proxy. :tongue

Speaking of relatives, though, my brother used to talk in his sleep. He once got into an argument with my aunt, accusing her of something vague, sounding really upset. My aunt was trying to apologise and find out what was wrong when mum told her that bro was asleep.

And apparently sis has started talking in her sleep lately. *shrug* I guess I'm screwed then.

It didn't happen last night, though. I remained wearing what I'd gone to bed in. Yay! :)

But for all I know, I could already talk in my sleep. I don't share a bed with anyone, so how would I know?
