I noticed that today we seem to have a lot of activity on the forums, with over 1300 active users online as of a few minutes before 3pm (where I live). And the number keeps rising. Just an observation as I procrastinate with my writing.

I've noticed something, too: your avatar. Is that, by any chance, edible? Because if it is, I'm-a-gonna eat you up!

Maryn, thinking white chocolate, or maybe maple or caramel creme

They look like normal pumpkins (well, not the normal orange gourds, but something similar) but the eyeballs remind me of a kind of halloween candy. So if I had to guess, I'd say the eyes are either plastic or chocolate wrapped in foil. They are really cute, though. :) Now I'm curious...Google reverse image search, ho!

Verdict is, real pumpkins with plastic eyes, courtesy of Martha Stewart.

Well, shoot, I'm never going to be able to finish three of those white pumpkins. Curse you, Martha!

It is an awfully cute seasonal thing, which is what she does so well.

Maryn, who's still got summer stuff displayed in the house

Plastic? Darn. I was thinking the eyeballs looked edible. Sometimes the eyeballs are the best part. For example, chocolate Easter bunnies with those hard icing eyes.

We set the record (temporary as it may be)
at 4:05 today with 1,440 active users!
Woohoo! Yeah us!

And yes, that number continues to rise.
I remember when it was under 1k. =)

I know, it's so hard to quit thinking about all that chewy deliciousness, isn't it? *droooool*

I dunno. Those eyeballs look a lot like these eyeballs, which are not just edible but quite yummy-sounding. Pass me some of the caramel ones!

Edit: Absolute Write. Come for the writing advice; stay for the eyeballs.

Well, children, today we had a few tremors where I live (Osaka) and yesterday we had a nice little 3.8M tremor. Living on a fault line is pretty dumb, but when you think about it, Japan is just one large fault line.

sucks, man...

J.S.F., I hope you've got a plan for what you do when the earth moves.

Maryn, who has a flood plan

^what she said, meaning Maryn.

I lived in San Francisco during the Loma Prieta quake which was major, but honestly Japan is a whole nother ballgame when it comes to earthquakes.

I remember reading, though, after that big Tsunamai that did in Fukushima, that the old village culture actually had some wisdom in place about defense against the big storms. Something about stone markers placed above shoreline and instructions that nothing be built below there, or the like?

That was kind of touching, and sad that no one seemed to have paid any attention.

/having a pensive moment

Those are exactly what I thought they were before I went looking for answers.

All y'all on fault lines better stay safe.

You realize that now every time I see your username on the boards I am going to think of eating eyeballs?
