I just had a quick question.
When leaving your agent is an email enough notification or do you have to send it in writing ie an actual letter in the post as well?
Thx! :)

What does your contract say?

All of that should be spelled out in your contract.

"In writing" = email should be sufficient.

"By registered mail" = by registered mail.

I note that many writers who decide to ditch their agent haven't actually talked to their agent about the concerns which have led them to this point.

In other words, try letting your agent know of your worries. Give her a chance to explain before you end the relationship.

I DID talk to my agent prior to leaving her. I re-read my contract and made sure I was dumping her properly. And then I requested that she tell ME in writing that the contract is over. Which she did. With her confirmation of the release, I slept better. 'nuff said.

Though if the agent stops communicating it can be hard to have the pre-break discussion.

I'm going to lock this thread, as the OP started a very similar thread relatively recently (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273960).

One thread per subject only, thanks.
