August starts with "aug" which rhymes with awful.

Sorta.

By August, I am too tired to hate. Bring on the cool weather! Then I can get a proper hate on again.

:D

Yeah, you are late! *stormie grumbles, then the sun shines, then she waves to Lavern* :Sun:

Okay. What I hate about August. This month it's a list.

(1) humidity. Does weird things to my hair

(2) getting tired of summer visitors who run stop signs

(3) the beach rose has faded away

(4) jelly fish

(5) sycamores shedding their bark all over the place

(6) ads for school supplies. Too many.

(7) days are getting shorter

(8) I have to make up reasons to party

The ATVers and dirt bikers have to get in their last idiotic blasts through town (backnforthbacknforthbacknforthbacknforthbacknforthbacknforth) on our dirt roads.

It's bloomin' hot and humidity's in the single digits and no one has AC so we just ... suffer.... while we hope the whole county doesn't burn to cinders in wildfires.

Ohhhh, I hate those Back-to-School ads and commercials with a passion!

(Well, except for the one for Staples where the Dad is pushing the shopping cart down the aisle while the kids are shuffling behind him as "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is playing in the background) :D

Awfully late to start this thread, Lavern! :tongue

I hate that it's almost over and the days are getting shorter again.

I don't hate August. Well, okay, winter not being over yet is a drag. Lots of rain, bitter wind... Normally I'm all excited when winter starts, because we really only have 3 months of the year where it's cool instead of warm/hot/molten lead. But by the end of winter I'm sick of it.

I also hate the price of good socks. Like, I buy the all-day socks, which come in handy in winter when I wear socks essentially 24/7. But for 2 pairs it's something like $15. Ack! The crappy socks that make my feet sore? $8 for 5 pairs. *faceplant*

:flag:the Crepe Myrtle is STILL in bloom. Did I mention that? :flag:

the humidity is so high the doorknobs are wet to the touch.

But rain is better than drought.

There is good: the Mimosa pink powder puffs of doom are gone.

I'm sorry but I'll take rain over those fires out west any day, they are too scary to think on much.

Here in Texas with 100+ degree weather, it's like the A/C doesn't even cycle off til after 7 pm so the thing I hate about August is having an electric bill that could pass for a mortgage payment.

^^^This. And desperately trying to keep enough water on the grass, trees and bushes so that they don't flat out die. Thankfully, this year, even though we're still in drought, we've gotten a few deep soaks over the summer, so the situation isn't as bad as it could be, and there will be crops produced instead of another round of disaster insurance payments.
