I know it's a bit overdue, but "In the Bedroom," with Sissy Spacek is on video now. It's probably one of the best films I have seen in years.

I don't cry easily and I was heaving during that one.

High recommended for weekend viewing.

Not for softies.

Any others highly recommended? New or slightly older?

King Kong.

I wish more movies were made like that one.

I saw King Kong in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. The theatre was state of the art, and everybody has assigned seats. You can buy beer there.

I liked the part with the dinosaurs, but what KK did to one's mouth was a bit over the top.

I busied myself with other thoughts at the end.

I thought King Kong was a great movie myself. Best I've seen in a long long time.

I just hope Peter Jackson is able to eventually do a movie version of The Hobbit - it just needs to be done, IMO.

Not my mouth, a dinosaur's mouth. Remember how he grabbed both sides of it's mouth and opened it so wide it killed the dinosaur?

I also thought the fight scenes went on a bit too long. The movie was very long, and in my opinion, could have been made shorter by cutting some out of the fight scenes, and the movie wouldn't have lost anything.

All we get to watch in theatres is kids movies.

We saw Hoodwinked last weekend.

Don't bother with that one.

It was almost as bad as Chicken Little. Almost.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. :) Uh..yeah...we don't get out much. I'm going to see Brokeback Mountain with a friend of mine, since, apparently, it isn't a movie I should take my fiance to go see. :)

I rather enjoyed Munich. Match Point wasn't bad either.

My daughter is watching it right now, in her room.

Haha! It's a very good movie (especially if you're 12...I am not 12, however I do tend to like kids movies). It's the kind of movie that makes you keep checking the time for fear that it will end any time soon.

Saw Munich. That was pretty good but a little long winded at the end. Could've ended about 20 minutes earlier. But the best movie I've seen in years besides Lord of the Rings was Cinderella Man. Excellent movie!

Walk the Line was pretty decent if only to see Reese Witherspoon do a perfect June Carter.

Haven't seen Brokeback Mountain yet. I may wait until that comes out on DVD to watch.

Walk the Line

Wouldnt mind seeing that.

Reese Witherspoon is good in "Almost Heaven," or something like that ......a movie on DVD now.

It also has the cutie boy from Thirteen Going on Thirty.

(A good movie, too.)

I also saw Narnia in Yugoslavia .......a good movie.

About 30 years ago Peter Falk made a movie called Phoenix and Griffin.

It's about two people with terminal cancer who meet in a class on how to cope with death. They fall in love knowing that they both would soon die.

The ending ripped my heart out. I cried for a long time.

Edit:
Ooops. I didn't read the question carefully.
Best movie RECENTLY would be Narnia.

The last film I saw was Get Rich or Die Tryin' and lemme tell ya, that one ain't gonna win any oscars, although if there was an award for best naked fight scene involving gentlemen of colour...*swoon*

I'll third or fourth The Narnia movie - I really enjoyed that one.

Batman Begins last year was a really good movie.

Um. That scene where he cracked open the dino's mouth was taken directly from the original King Kong, right down to where Kong kept opening and closing the flopping jaw.

And personally, I did not feel the movie was too long and in fact thought it went by way too quickly. I hope the DVD has a director's cut with all the deleted scenes. :)
