I've writing a scene in a tropical jungle (Thailand). I'm setting my action atop a landmass that rises up from the floor of a narrow (~ 300ft wide) ravine / gorge. What would such a feature be called?
I remember seeing pics of this kind of topography, but it was a long time ago, and I can't recall where I saw it. I tried the Google, but I seem to be entering the wrong search words.
Thanks for your help!

Are you thinking of the limestone karst towers in Thailand? If so, search on the term 'karst' you'll find some info about terminology.

(I'm not a geologist either, but I live near some tropical karst scenery. Not as spectacular as Thailand, though.)

My spouse has a degree in geography, and believes you would just call it an island (assuming there is water in the ravine). This seems like a geography question moreso than geology.

Karst!
Thanks to everyone who responded. I probably wouldn't have found it. Now all I have to do is work it into a conversation!
