Yet in his HuffPo story, Ron Dicker says "The victim told Orange County Sheriff's deputies the pair had drinks and smoked marijuana, then Vaughn began giving him oral sex."

Is that some original reporting on Ron Dicker's part, indicating he placed a call to Orange County and talked to more than one deputy (deputies) who told him the official report was wrong and it was marijuana, not Ecstasy, or did he get confused, or did he just make that up to spin the old "Reefer Madness" tune?

HuffPo looks more like a state organ every day.

I just can't laugh about this. I wonder what, if any, jokes would be made if it had been a woman attacked and injured as significantly by a male escort.

I can't laugh at it either, Lyv. I mean...it's horrible! I don't think it's funny at all. Haven't we had this same conversation over some other news items where some male anatomy was injured? I can't remember what story it was or even what happened, but I do recall vaguely comparing the male injury to that of a woman if the roles were reversed.

Why is it deemed acceptable for people to laugh if a man's penis is injured but not if a woman's breast or vagina is injured? Any which way you look at it, both are examples of abuse. There are so many jokes and snide comments made in the OP's link, and many seem to think the guy did something to provoke the woman into doing that.

It irritates me.

It's purely a defensive mechanism. The reality is too horrible to contemplate, so joking about it is a way to obtain some distance.

I've repaired such injuries so I can contemplate them easily. They can be a tedious repair but generally heal well in the long run.
