search for new agent and end of previous contract

I recently parted ways with my agent. We had a contract that could be ended by either of us giving notice. Is it important to get our agreement to end the contract in a signed document, or are our e-mails about it enough? I want to make sure everything's done correctly before I begin looking for a new agent.

If you're troubled, send a letter to your ex-agent confirming that your agreement has been terminated with immediate effect and that if they object, they have 14 days to contact you about this. Keep proof of postage, and you're done.

However, I think you're fine so long as you have an email from the agent concerned confirming this.
