I've gone through The Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Writing Flash Fiction once and thought it was so wonderful, I'd be up for doing it again. Would anyone be interested in a study group, say one story per week?

The book is 20-something sections, each with a discussion of a different aspect of flash stories by a prominent flash author. Then that author posts an example story and an assignment. The assignments are flash stories, so you end up with a story to send out every week.

It costs $15 for paperback, $10 for the Kindle version.

Anyone want to play?

P.S. I have no affiliation with RM Press or anything like that...

Oh man, I would love to but I don't have the book and money is tight so I'm not going to buy it for another couple weeks. I will check back in here when I do to see if it's too late to join in.

Okay, FP. If the others are "maybes" and we've got the book, there might not be any reason to wait.

Anyone else want in? Everyone is welcome. You just have to get the book.

I just purchased the book not too long ago. I'll join in as time permits.

Great!

Okay then, let's say first assignment due next Monday, July 22? We can use the thread for it in the 100 Credits Club Group, and start posting comments on the first section any time then.

If anyone else wants to get the book and join, jump in any time. The sections don't build on each other so you don't have to start at the beginning.

Great!

If anyone else wants to play, feel free to get the book and
jump in where we're at. It can be done in any order.

Welcome, Lyra.

I thought we'd keep the ongoing thread for it in "The 100 Credits Club."

http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=867

And then the stories get posted in the Flash Fiction "Polished and Ready" section.

First assignment is due Monday, but if you can't make that, you can jump in wherever. The sections don't need to be done in order. :)

If anyone else wants to join in, all are welcome!

Hi there. I think it helps to say which one, especially so we know it's from our group. We have to go through and number the exercises ourselves, though. The book has titles for each section but no numbers. :)

The second section assignment is due on Monday, July 29, in the flash fiction "polished and ready" section. It is to write a flash story (under 1,000 words) that centers on an article of clothing. Put something like "Study Group #2" as the heading, so it's not overlooked.
