So, I guess this would probably be more longterm than most of the questions here? I'm looking for someone who could help me with my portrayal of a girl living in Japan. She's half white, so there would be a little leeway in mistakes made, but I still want to be 110% accurate if I can! So, I'm asking if there is anyone out there willing to serve as my sounding-board - someone I could message or e-mail with questions and queries or to doublecheck something. Can anyone help me?

The only thing that I know about this topic is from reading manga and anime. Seriously. But you might find these links helpful:

Aside from that, some major differences you might note is that schooling in Japan is a bit more strict and disciplined. Students must clean their classrooms by themselves, and if your character lives in one of the major cities like Tokyo, she'll be spending a whole lot of time on the subway.
Also, a whole lot more emphasis is put on politeness and social customs. If you directly translate the speech from Japanese to English, it is usually a whole lot formal than you might imagine.
