As a natural-born long-writer, I've been working for a while to learn the short forms. Not long ago, I took the daring leap into (gasp!) flash fiction. For me, this is the equivalent of an elephant high-diving into a tea-cup -- could anything good come of it, for the elephant or the cup? I was kind of worried about the audience, too.
Came in at 280 words. And then I edited that behemoth down to 260!
