An AW member who prefers not to post here has asked me to post this in her stead:

"I’d be very grateful for recommendations for good erotica anthologies in either paper book form or Kindle. Sexual fantasies or short fiction, more erotic than romantic. I’m not interested in historical fantasy, dragons, paranormal or mythical. I'm a straight woman, interested in heterosexual erotica, okay with some kink but not okay with violence, implications of violence, or force. Many thanks."

Can we steer her toward the very best, carefully following her preferences?

Maryn, pretty sure we can

There's the Mammoth Book of Erotica, really a franchise, published once a year plus special editions. The quality of the work there is generally good.

There's the list of recommendations on the ERWA website:
http://www.erotica-readers.com/ERA/EB/Erotic_Books.htm

Finally, there's the www.eroticarevealed.com book review site, which reviews several books each month plus links to publishers.

Hrmmm...well she can always look at the 1 Night Stand series from Decadent Publishing. All inexpensive short stories from hundreds of authors and it covers every genre imaginable and they're sold in bulk packages so that's kinda like an anthology. Tell her to keep an eye on the heat rating and go for the 4's and 5's.

List with just titles and authors: http://decadent1nightstand.blogspot.com/p/1night-stand-series-at-glance.html

And the books with covers:

Bundles: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...aps&field-keywords=decadent publishing bundle

(I have a shifter bundle in there, but fucktards Amazon won't display it because they say it's pornographic...but they'll sell the titles individually...yeah...been fighting for months with them and they just suck: www.amazon.com/Mayburn-BUNDLE-Prides-Moon-ebook/dp/B00BD75Z0E )

Just wanted to add that if she buys it from Decadent's website it's 1 dollar cheaper than 3rd party sites.

In my own little world but its ok, they know me he
I honestly don't have any suggestions. I only really even take a glance to begin with things that at going to interest me (I know, bad writer. But I'm still pretty new at this.), and my interests fall a little outside of the strictly heterosexual, mild kink, realistic as we 21st century humans percieve it sphere.

Cleis Press does a lot of anthologies. I checked out several and they looked interesting with a wide range of subject matter from hot heroes, shifters, bdsm to couples, etc. Delilah Devlin has a blog just for the anthologies she edits. I think Kristina Wright might as well, maybe but I'm not sure. Anyway, they have lots of editors that put together lots of anthologies. I would also do a google search for romance anthology or erotic anthology or (insert your kink here- vampires, fireman, shifters) anthology and see what pops up. I can't personally rec. any cause I don't read anthologies. I like my books LARGE. lol

Black Lace erotica anthologies.
Samhain also has an anthologies catagory onsite but you'd have to see which ones were labeled Red Hots to find the erotic ones. Those without the sub heading Red Hots would be other heat levels. Here is the most recent Red Hot book under the anthologies category. http://store.samhainpublishing.com/ballroom-blitz-p-7005.html

The Violet Blue anthologies of short stories are Awesome! They are contemporary fiction short erotic stories, and sound just like what your friend is looking for. No vampires or demons or extraterrestrials or super powers. They tend to be a nice mix of a variety of fetishes and kink, not solely focused on BDSM or other narrower fetishes.

Don't know if your friend is still looking, as it appears you've gotten some good responses, but you may want to have her take a look at what Cleis Press is offering. Very strong, reputable publishers of erotica and books about sexuality. There are novels, anthologies, how too's and pretty much something to fit almost any bill there, including plenty of vanilla hetero stuff. ;)

Actually Maryn, I know you know them already anyway, now that I think of it, but figured I'd throw them out there anyway! :D

I'll cast another vote for the quality of Cleis Press for erotica. Most of the erotic fiction will be erotica, not romance, and their more romance-oriented collections tend to be marked as such. I can't comment on non-kinky het erotica since I haven't read any in the past 30 years.

I will re-direct my friend's attention here.

And note that hey, who knows how many other people at AW, members or not, are getting a bit of much-needed guidance toward the quality stuff. For which I thank you all.

Maryn, just back from a trip
