View Full Version : Just received a phone call about my father-in-law.

02-08-2006, 12:17 AM
My father-in-law owns a successful lawn care business in Florida. Today, he was involved in an accident which left his foot seriously mangled by the blades of one of his mowers.

He is in surgery as we speak.

I love my father-in-law very much. He is a good man. Please keep him in your prayers.

Thanks everyone.

My husband is upset but he has an incredible ability to remain calm.

As for me, I am here to try to keep myself distracted from being a pessimist.

We have not yet heard anything more.

I'm sorry. Our thoughts are with you - take care of yourself, your husband and your family.

Worry, worry, worry....

I should be in the car driving to Florida right this very second. The only reason I'm not is because my car is not fit for driving long distances.

Now would be a good time for me to meditate. Did you know that worry is a form of meditation? It is a lousy and self destructive form of meditation but a form none the less.

If you can worry, you can meditate. I should be a master at meditation by now but instead I've mastered the art of worry. :o

Here is the latest news.

What happened was that my father-in-law put the riding mower in park to get off it and remove a piece of trash he saw lying in the yard. In the process, the mower jumped out of gear, knocked him to the ground and ran over his right foot. The only thing that kept the mower from moving up his entire leg is that his adrenalin surge allowed him enough strength to push the mower off with his left leg.

A lady across the street was outside her home and saw the incident. She called 911. Two other women, who happened to be Registered Nurses, came to his aid and assisted him until the ambulance arrived.

The surgeons have attempted to save as much of his foot as possible by grafting bone and skin. If the blood supply is not restored to the grafted areas then he will require amputation.

Hopefully, all will go well and the amuptation can be avoided.

On behalf of my Father-in-Law, I thank you for the support.
