Hi, everyone! :D

I'm completely ecstatic right now. After a ton of editing, I started sending my WIP out to agents. In this new wave, I heard back from an agent (just today) with a rejection, but a temporary one. It was a "revise and resubmit". The agent loved the story but thought another round or two of edits would be appropriate, adding a ton of notes for me to get started with, such as using more "show" and less "tell" (sufficed to say, I will be posting my work in SYW after I make the edits for further feedback ;)). And best of all, the agent said my query letter was EXCELLENT! :D

How exciting for you! Nice to have lots of editing direction to go with the R&R. BTW, did you run your query through Query Letter Hell? Whether you did or not, it would be awesome to post it over there in the Successful Queries thread so others can see what works.

Congrats, Billtrumpet!

Congrats! If you haven't already done so, can you post the query? I'd love to see what earned an 'excellent' mark.

Congratulations, and good luck with the R&R! They're not easy but I bet you'll rock it. :D

Thankfully the R & R isn't too crazy in terms of what needs to be fixed. I was just told to fix some small grammar/word choice issues (i.e. the use of "he" vs. "the colonel", with preference on the former) and inject a little more "show, don't tell" in character and setting descriptions.

Thank you for the vote of confidence, too. I appreciate it. :)

ETA - I'm probably going to resurrect my dormant SYW thread and post the new and improved version of the opening pages.

ETA #2 - The query is posted in the "Successful Queries" thread for those who would like to see it. :D

Yes, R&R's are a step in the right direction. It's so nice knowing what needs to be fixed. :) Congratulations on the R&R!
