View Full Version : Thank you for the laughter.

Thank you to all the mods who made April 1 such a lot of fun!

This day is called the feast of Ricardian
They that outlaughs this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse them at the name of Ricardian.
They that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast their neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Ricardian:'
Then will they scroll their screen and show their posts
And say 'These laughs I had on Ricardian's day.'
Old mods forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But they'll remember with advantages
What threads they started that day: then shall their names.
Familiar in our mouths as household words
MacAllister the Boss, Alessandra and Garfinkle
Maryn and Haggis, Evilrooster and Willibee,
Be in their flowing posts freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good member teach the newbie;
And Ricard Ricardian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the net,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of AWers;
For they to-day that shares their laughter with us
Shall be our friend ; be they ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle their condition:
And members across the world now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their memberships cheap whiles any tells
That laughed with us upon Saint Ricardian's day.

I love 'tweaking' this speech!

How now, wool-sack, what mutter you?

Those who would call a man 'wool-sack' may one day wish for a seat of soft wool.

[Hey, Kuwi, what's up with the links to the posts themselves?]

It is English.

It's proper English, not American English.........

:Clap: to Shakesbear! :Hug2: to MacAllister and our wonderful mods. You make April Fool's Day one of the best of the year.

Terrible attacks upon my reputation and general merrymaking regarding my resting place!

Reputation is an idle and most false imposition, oft got without merit and lost without deserving. You have lost no reputation at all unless you repute yourself such a loser.

Resting place? There is no rest for the wicked.
