Though some may call it blasphemous, I prefer cathedrals. Car parks are too restrictive, with all the concrete and asphalt overhead.

And don't get me started on the restrictions involved when the space above gets filled by a truck!

Now that you mention it, many of my stories begin in parked cars. That's likely because a parked car played such a crucial role in my early romantic life.

My WIP (novel project #9) begins:

By the glow of the parking lights, Donald eased his car along the muddy woodlot path until we were well out of sight of the road, and shut off the engine. The heater was broken so that it blew hot summer and winter and the windows had to be left open. Through them came the nighttime chirping of insects and the soughing of the prairie wind in the trees.

This wasn’t the first time I’d gone with a boy to his secret place for petting and kissing, and sometimes a good grope. But I was eighteen now, and facing the prospect of dying a virgin. I was the only girl I knew who reached my age with her cherry intact, and I’d finally resolved to get the job done. I planned it with near-military precision: Donald Whitten was going to be the one, and tonight would be the night.

The scene is set in 1963, hopefully sufficiently historic.

No experience in a parked car, alas. But I was once an audio voyeur of such an encounter. Not to bring up deep dark thoughts, but it did keep me on this planet.

What's a car park?

Is it like an even trashier version of a trailer park?

I had a dream once where I was an 18th century (male) vampire hanging out on a parking lot (car park) late at night in a bad part of town. I spotted a little old lady returning to her car. I knew there were thugs about, so I asked her if I could escort her to her car. She looked at me like I was psycho murderer and nodded her head without saying a word.

It was a really weird dream. But then I thought, what if I turned the little old lady into a hot chick in a red dress and put her in imminent danger? Then the sexy 18th century vampire swoops in to rescue her and then there is sex and all is well.

I get ideas from dreams a lot, even dreams with parking lots in them.

My first child was started in a car park at my college. After dark I add. My b-friend and i didn't have gas money and the dorm had a strict no coed visitation policy at the time. And disengage the car-alarm, especially if it the sensitive kind, that can be set off by a mere bump.
