View Full Version : Poet In A Hat: You Decide

Do we need to see a picture of Poetinahat in a Hat? Does he really exist or just a figment of his own imagination? Is he really a poet, or just a hat? Maybe he's a novelist and hasn't told anybody that he is not a fan of poetry at all.

Do we get a cute little poll to answer this question?

ETA: Oh, looky, we do! I love polls. But then I'm a fruitcake.

working on it, this takes time. . .

Can you add paper Burger King crown to the list?

I rather like the lone hat he has now. Suggestive.

That might be hitting to close to real life. . .

Before he said the BK hats are one of his favorite items from there. I thought that was funny. One of those would make a great avatar.

I'm a fan of the fedora myself....

I say it's best not to pry. Let everyone imagine whatever kind of hat they want on the man, from fedora to BK Crown to fuzzy purple kangol hat, let each of person apply their own choice of hat to his John Shea lookin' head.

Best not ruin it for anyone. His mystique and aura would be ruined if, say, he really wears backwards Yankees caps.

Poet is a Red Sox fan. . . I have this on good authority. . . he once told me he owns a hat with YH on it. . . meaning Yankees Hater. . . good man in my book.

But if he wears it backwards...

well, i think that the 'poet' side of us cant be physically seen,
but the hat can.

but to say that he is, as a person, a poet, and wearing a fedora,
then he should complete the whole gangster thing.

dig?

Oh Weren, you have let me down! Where's the choice I wanted?

Poet in nothing but a hat!

That's what I wanna see. ;)

I say we plant him in his natural environment - Royal Ascot - and see what sort of titfer emerges.

I checked out the poll results before I voted, and voted for the ball cap just to even things up. Truthfully, I enjoy the variety. Surprise us, Poet!

Ok, I still stick to what I said earlier. That should have been a choice but I finally decided on one of the actual choices and picked ball cap.

I have to admit, I am a sucker for a guy who looks good in a tattered ol' ball cap.

I vote for a cowboy hat. We haven't seen that yet. I like to see variety!

I could go for a beret to go along with the poet image. Maybe take a picture from the back to keep up the mystique.

Sherelan, I think you would like me during baseball season. . . during the winter I let my brown curls grow and use a leather cabbie hat as hair control, but when the Red Sox begin I trim down and put on my plethora of old ball caps. I have to represent the Nation, through thick and thin. You could call me Novelist in a Hat. (ummm, freelance beat writer too)

Maybe we should get together and get Poet a beret with a Red Sox B on it, that would be fitting. Start the collection plate around.

Having lived in Boston for 13 years, I can tell you that anyone wearing a beret with a "B" on it to the park would get his a** kicked within seconds.

Here's a full range of Red Sox Hats (http://www.lids.com/did/141) to choose from, but no berets or fedoras. Might have to make a custom by hand for the ol' poet.

I never said it was a good idea, I just thought it would be fitting. . .

Werencole, I think that in order for the poll to be fair - you should post a picture next to each choice. That way we can see for ourselves and vote more accurately.

Poet: Is there a website where we can see the Poet-of-the-month picture?

Oh, I know. Maybe we can find one somewhere, though. He can wear it down under.

Well, here I am, then -- democracy triumphs.

I'd like to thank the original Aussie poet in a hat, who graces our $10 note: Banjo Paterson. A round of Waltzing Matilda in his memory!

And to truman's lost cap: we know you're with us today.

Fedora.
Give him a quarterstaff too.
If his wife doesn't mind, can he take off his shirt?

Good. I want that to be 'June' on my 2007 Calendar.
