I'm bored out of my mind (literally), and last time we tried this, it went alright, though it didn't last very long.
Here's a re-posting of the opening segment from the last thread, since there's no point in doing it twice:
Anyone interested? We'll get a succession chain made before long enough. I can start, though considering what happened last time maybe I shouldn't.

Anyway, for those not in the know, Dwarf Fortress is a game. Sort of. It's a difficult game. Umm. Here, I'll let someone else explain it:
http://lparchive.org/Dwarf-Fortress-.../Introduction/ (scroll down to "WTF is Dwarf Fortress?")
A succession game is when, after a certain period of time, the player zips up the game directory and sends it along to the next player in line, who does the same thing after his turn is up.
In this case, I think we'll have a turn length of two summers- not exactly two years, but the second time you see "Summer has arrived!" you zip 'er up and pass the file along. You can also abdicate the throne before your turn is up. In this situation, the next player will play through the time you skipped.
The "fortress overseeer", that is, the player, is usually represented in-game as a dwarf whose nickname is set to the player's username. Other users can also request a "dwarfing", having a different dwarf named after them. If your dwarf dies, you either end your turn or reload an older save. Of course, sometimes the player will not be represented by a living dwarf- this must be explained in the story of the fort, though.
Which brings us to the story-telling aspect of the succession game. As a player, you must write an in-character depiction of the events of your turn, usually laced with screenshots (though I personally seem to have forgotten the screenshot part...). Former overseers/users that have been dwarfed can post their own in-character missives on whatever situations the current player described.
If the game becomes completely unplayable due to, say, flooding the entire world with lava, we'll revert to an old save. The copy of DF we're playing with has been configured to save every in-game month.

Q: What's this console window that opens up with the game copy of DF?
A: DFHack. It's a utility I thought we might find useful. Try not to overuse it though.
Q: How do I sign up as a player?
A: Ask. You'll be added to the bottom of the list.
Q: Where should I upload my game folder after I'm done?
A: I suggest FileDropper.
Q: Where should I upload my screenshots?
A: I suggest Img.ie.
