How will you be celebrating it?

I usually ignore it. I have no idea what the holiday is for or even understand it.

If he sees his shadow we'll have six more weeks of winter, if he doesn't we'll have an early spring?

What part of the country are they from?

Where I come from, six more weeks of winter is an early spring!

So the whole thing just has never made sense to me.

Groundhog Day makes me laugh, because for some reason which I no longer can remember, I set the big, climactic scene of my novel on February 2nd.

I think I'll celebrate with a query...

By doing what I do every day. . . go to work. Then in between tasks revise and rewrite my WIP. That's one reason I go to work--to get writing done.

Are you asking me? Oh, maybe I'll write a nice groundhog poem. There aren't enough poems dedicated to groundhogs.

If I weren't sick, I was going to go up to the Square earlier today and watch the Groundhog Day festivities. I live in the city where "Groundhog Day" was filmed so I can visit all the film sights any time I want. They have small plaques up around town that tell visitors where certain scenes were filmed. The city is adding another small plaque this year - the crash scene when Bill's character and the two buddies from the bowling alley are driving wildly through town and crash into the Groundhog billboard. The movie theater in town (the one you see in the movie) is showing Groundhog Day for free this weekend so if I'm feeling better it might be fun to go and see it on the big screen (if not, we'll have to watch it curled up under blankets on TV).

Take care all - and Happy Groundhog Day. :)

Well, we got up this morning at the a$$crack of dawn to watch the groundhogs come out. Then we had a big breakfast, and sent out a few Happy Groundhog Day cards to friends and loved ones. My husband sent me a big bouquet of groundhogs at the library this morning -- pink ones, my favorite! -- and then when the kids got home we sat around, wearing groundhog hats and eating a cake shaped like a groundhog's shadow. Later, we'll sit around the fire and sing Groundhog Day songs.

Just like every other American.
