What zany things or tricks or psycho tropic freak outs do you think would be in a novelization of Pink Floyd's song "The Wall"?

Oh please--it's been done. It's called House of Leaves.

Eh, I jest, but an experimental form could be fun to play with. Considering the album/movie were very experimental themselves.

I think you mean album. Pink Floyd has no song called "The Wall".

ETA: The song you are thinking of is titled "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2."

ETA2: There's also a Part 1 and Part 3, but they don't get played on the radio.

^Thank you kuwisdelu. My Floydian senses have been on alert all day. Now I know why :)

Why, oh why would anyone want to mess with a masterpiece?
Frankly, imo, a novelization of "The Wall" would be like trying to write the novel of "Flight of the Bumblebee", or "The Four Seasons".

Could it be done? Sure, but to what end?

Sorry, the story of The Wall is too close to my heart to be bastardized. I think there's a lot of people who feel the same way. Probably millions. In a twenty years it will probably be billions.
Nice market, right?
Leave it.

As sad as this is to think about, I would imagine in 20 years, there will be less Pink Floyd fans, not more.

They had a legendary concert in Phoenix so loud you could hear it very clearly a mile away. I know from personal experience. :D

Floyd was one of the prog-rock bands that convinced my little gray-haired mother to switch from light jazz and Classical in the early seventies. I will never forget barreling up the freeway toward Denver with 'Meddle' blasting out of the 8-Track on her deceptively-staid, souped-up Datsun 810.

Shows how old I am.

Maybe we can hijack this thread as a Floydian thread? It may take a lot of thought and less drugs than you might think but...

I've seen them twice without Roger Waters, and seen Roger Waters twice...

I've never heard Roger sing the name 'Vera' in concert.

But I've heard Comfortably Numb done in such exquisite beauty....

I never saw Pink Floyd perform live (although I begged my parents like hell to let me buy tickets to Live 8 for their reunion), but I did see Roger Waters perform The Wall in Las Vegas a year or two back.

It was amazing.

*sigh*, you're probably right.
It's just such a great story already told in song.

Which is why, should someone do this thing, Pink Floyd will have to sue for prior art, and thousands of fans would mock the perpetrator author.

If Roger Waters wants to write it, fine. Otherwise, you better run!

The story in "The Wall" was so disjointed and "out there," I'm not sure how well it would translate to novel form. It really was a remarkable piece of film. I don't know what a full-fledged story would look like, though.

Definitely love Floyd here. Saw the Pulse tour in the 90s. David Gilmour is a god.
