...It's cold and grey and it's the beginning of "tax season" at my job.

. . . 'year-end' is never really year-end at my job. Numbers . . . and more numbers.

There's never any money left over after December's holidays to take advantage of January's sales. I'm sure that's all January's fault, too.

Maryn, quick to accuse

Current unseasonable weather notwithstanding, it's generally the coldest month of the year. Also, icy. I dislike both.

Hours get cut at work, which means we aren't running at full staff even when we desperately need to be. Awesome.

The new semester starts, which reminds me that I need to sign up for classes still. I know. This week.

It's getting warmer, being the middle of summer here. And I haven't yet gotten used to the fact that the year number has changed.

On the plus side, January is the only month I can say things like, "Hey, this milk has an expiration date in 2013! Cool!" without people thinking I'm completely bonkers.

The dark side of the moon, making sinister plans..
Having a birthday in January means registering and inspecting my vehicle and this year I have to renew my drivers license as well. All while trying to move and wondering where all this money is magically going to come from after the holidays!

Nine days into the new year and I've already paid over € 1.000 (road tax € 373, third-party insurance € 563, roadside assistance € 90). That's right, donations may be sent to: My bank
