Is it just me, or does anyone else find Microsoft Word's thesaurus to be very basic and often inadequate?

But Microsoft tools are great...spellcheck is awesome... I was working on a press release when I worked at a big Ag firm and it wanted to sub "clitoris" for the article. All over the article.

In seriousness, I have a good ol' fashioned paperback thesaurus that sits on my desk.

The spell check can be infuriating at times.

Keeps moaning at me for having "fragments". I always have a little rant at that.

Thesaurus is basic. I normally use thesaurus.com instead.

Word's thesaurus is adequate for the mental lapse. "Damn it, what's that word, you know, for that thing (or idea or color or whatever)?" but not much use beyond that.

I'm become a bit of a thesaurus elitist. No online or paperbound thesaurus seems adequate once you've had use of the big hardcover sucker sorted by concept, with so many somewhat-related ones listed that it's a godsend.

But Word's abbreviated one? Meh. Good for brain farts.

Maryn, whose only complaint is the big one is heavy
