Hi everyone!
My MC is a 16-year-old girl who gets arrested for vandalism (and possession of marijuana but they later find out it isn't hers) in North Carolina. Based on past research (and I can't find the site now, eek!), I thought that after the arrest they would send her to a probation officer who would do one of three things:
1) lecture her and let her off the hook
2) have her do some kind of voluntary program like counseling or community service (this is what I have happen in the book)
3) send the case to the DA and she'd have to go to court
Does anyone know if this is accurate? Or do they send every arrested teen straight to a judge?
Any help would be greatly appreciated (especially if you know about NC specifically)! Thank you so much!
