In my WIP I have a 60 square mile ranch (USA), some pasture, some mountainous. I want to have a string of cabins so that someone traveling by horse at a walk would be able to reach one every 4 to 5 hours. My question is, what would a string of cabins / huts be called? I'm assuming my horse is covering an average of 20 miles per day.

Thanks for your help.

Well, a working ranch would have line shacks, with supplies for mending fence, etc.

Line shacks! I knew I'd heard of it but couldn't remember. Thanks!

That sounds like the Appalachian Trail. They call them shelters, and they are named after something around them, or the mountain or valley they sit in/on, or park they are located in.
