Happy Thanksgiving. Even if it isn't Thanksgiving, may you have something to be thankful for. Sometimes it's nice to think about that. My sister is working the (hapless) Lions game tomorrow at Ford Field in Detroit, so we're holding off on Thanksgiving until next week. I'm thankful for my family, my friends, my writing, this. xoxo

Happy Thanksgiving, all. Tomorrow I will be cooking for the people at my work site, since they have been so awesome and welcoming to the muzungu in their midst. I wanted to make American style food, but it's going to be very Ugandan. When in Rome....

I was tearing my hair out this morning, bitterly complaining to myself about all the help I wasn't getting in fixing this meal, cursing the turkey as it refused to go into the roaster, wondering when the rest of the family would get up, knowing they'd be getting in my way and demanding breakfast, among other things.

But...

I have a turkey.

I have my family here.

I have a roof over my head.

Way too many folks have none of those...

My sweet, sweet doggie in my avatar had HGE this week, so it's truly Thanks-Giving time! He's got his head on my knee, getting better, thank God

(Don't look up that condition, btw. Ew and quickly fatal unless you rush them to the ER vet and they get hospitalized. I had to take a cab!)

As far as the food goes, Dad and I are doing lobster tomorrow, muahaha

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm thankful for living in such a tiny village in the mountains. Instead of a quiet meal with just Hubby and me (which would be so nice), friends from up the dirt road called yesterday to join them and other friends. Should be a very nice time.

I'm thankful that someone casually mentioned this site a few years ago. And that my brother was able to get a flight and will be coming from across the country later to join us for a few days.

I wish our society would emphasize this holiday more and the shopping-frenzied-Christmas less.
