Hi all. I'm writing a scene where a mine worker needs to secretly blow up an opening to a large underground mine. I used dynamite and I need to know if that is even a possibility. Would a modern corporate mine in the US use dynamite? I know there are other options: water gel slurry, but I can't use that. Plastic explosives? Thanks to anyone who responds.

If you go into details, make sure you read up on how it's properly used. Also, dynamite is not the red paper-wrapped sticks they used to show on TV, it looks quite different now if that comes into play.
