I believe as a mod, I think I have the right to spam the board. Once. ;)

(this is the same post as in "Writing Novel")

OK, I didn't want to talk about the release much, but it's now official, and ahead of schedule! My novel, The Pacific Between (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=raymondkwong-20&creative=331477&camp=15309&link_code=st1&path=ASIN/1933016329) (ISBN: 1-933016-32-9), are ready to be ordered and shipped. According to Amazon.com, it will be shipped within 24 hours. Whee!

:D

Some of my area stores are/will be stocking them: Joseph-Beth, BN and Borders -- those are the three I know of.

I'm so psyched!

Ray

p.s. thanks for indulging me. But I can finally call myself a published novelist, now.

I seriously can't wait to read it. And neither can my dad and sister. I ordered them copies as well. Amazon says it'll get here tomorrow. I don't know if that's true, but I can't wait!

I'll carry it around with me everywhere and tell everyone I know to buy it on Wednesday. ;)

Ray buddy, there's an enormous difference between a drive-by spamming and a regular such as yourself sharing his excitement with his friends.

Congrats again on joining the "Published Novelist" club.

PS - I preordered my copy a couple of weeks ago, it should be here any day now....

and with 10,000-plus posts and all the time he spends in his HOL, it's a miracle he even had time to write a novel! http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have the book (preordered) but just for fun, I went to my local Borders and asked for it - even gave them a couple of bookmarks. They're going to order one for me (gift for a friend)

Ray, congratulations on finishing and getting it published. Awesome cover, too. I'm looking forward to buying it at your first booksigning.

Now, I normally charge $6 for me to sign a copy of my book. How much are you going to charge? That's what all authors do, isn't it? :)

Allen, given that I'm an actor, too, I'll raise you $6. For a total of $12. It's a bargain, really.

You know, Ray, I was ready to kick your spam in novels to the can. But because it's you and we all love you so much, I let it slide.

But just once, mind you.

Oh yeah, Congrats!

Rock on, Ray!!!! :e2headban You're a triple threat: actor, compulsive (yet entertaining) poster, and now a published author! If your ever learn how to sing (and I dunno if you can), you'd be unstoppable.

I doff my fedora to thee, almighty spamster.

Well, if I had a fedora, I'd doff it.

I guess I'll have to make do with this bonnet of itchy dandruff.

I doff my dandruff bonnet to you, our next greater pole-sitter on the NY Times Bestseller List.

Best of luck.

maestrowork

It's out, I believe. At least until your store gets it...

News FLASH

I just did my first signing... well, sort of. I went over to the store and chatted with the event manager lady, and then I signed all the books. They put my books in two different areas -- "Local Author" and "Fiction." That's nice. They also had a "What's In Store" tag on the shelves so it's more visible. Also, they displayed the books face OUT. That's so cool. I'm psyched. It's kind of nice to be on the same shelf as Virginia Woolf. :)

Those who knew me since the beginning (what, like April 2004) knew of my struggle from trying to find an agent (I was just beginning to do queries and I came to AW looking for info on agents -- the Beware board's awesome) to getting through the editing process, and now this. Hopefully my journey was interesting to others, and you could find comfort to know that a first-time novelist can get published (OK, maybe not with Random House and a $200,000 advance). It is possible.

Thank you.

I didn't join AW til October of 2004 so I missed some of your novel writing adventure(struggle).

But that sure looks COOL seeing your book on that shelf!!!

Wow, that's great, Ray! Did you cry? I did, the first time I saw my book on a store's shelves. And my hand was shaking so badly I could hardly sign my name. Heehee. Good for you!!

I remember following along with your progress. I was mostly a lurker those days, so you never knew I was there. :D

So did the "good old days" picture from the tub. Wow, I look really young there. ROFL Not to mention that my hair is nearly to my waist now.
