I believe as a mod, I think I have the right to spam the board. Once. ;)

(this is the same post as in "Writing Novel")

OK, I didn't want to talk about the release much, but it's now official, and ahead of schedule! My novel, The Pacific Between (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=raymondkwong-20&creative=331477&camp=15309&link_code=st1&path=ASIN/1933016329) (ISBN: 1-933016-32-9), are ready to be ordered and shipped. According to Amazon.com, it will be shipped within 24 hours. Whee!

Some of my area stores are/will be stocking them: Joseph-Beth, BN and Borders -- those are the three I know of.

I'm so psyched!

p.s. thanks for indulging me. But I can finally call myself a published novelist, now.

01-23-2006, 10:09 PM
(and we can call you bighead)

01-23-2006, 10:14 PM
I seriously can't wait to read it. And neither can my dad and sister. I ordered them copies as well. Amazon says it'll get here tomorrow. I don't know if that's true, but I can't wait!

I'll carry it around with me everywhere and tell everyone I know to buy it on Wednesday. ;)

Ray, congrats.

01-23-2006, 10:34 PM
WhooHoo again!!! Ihave it on my amazon wich list, but as I am trying to stick to a cash budget, I will try and pick it up locally. I'llmake them order it for me. :)

01-23-2006, 10:42 PM
Ray buddy, there's an enormous difference between a drive-by spamming and a regular such as yourself sharing his excitement with his friends.

Congrats again on joining the "Published Novelist" club.

PS - I preordered my copy a couple of weeks ago, it should be here any day now....

and with 10,000-plus posts and all the time he spends in his HOL, it's a miracle he even had time to write a novel! http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have the book (preordered) but just for fun, I went to my local Borders and asked for it - even gave them a couple of bookmarks. They're going to order one for me (gift for a friend)

Ray, congratulations on finishing and getting it published. Awesome cover, too. I'm looking forward to buying it at your first booksigning.

Now, I normally charge $6 for me to sign a copy of my book. How much are you going to charge? That's what all authors do, isn't it? :)

01-24-2006, 01:42 AM
Allen, given that I'm an actor, too, I'll raise you $6. For a total of $12. It's a bargain, really.

Good Word

Can I say I knew you when?

You know, Ray, I was ready to kick your spam in novels to the can. But because it's you and we all love you so much, I let it slide.

But just once, mind you.

Oh yeah, Congrats!

Celebrate because you rock! http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif

01-24-2006, 03:10 AM
:hooray: At last!!!!!

01-24-2006, 03:26 AM
Pre-Ordered mine, so now I'm waiting for that Confirmation E-mail...

01-24-2006, 06:00 AM
Congrats Ray!!!

When is the next one coming out? :)

01-24-2006, 06:22 AM
Ray, do you know if I'll be able to buy it on Amazon.ca anytime soon?

01-24-2006, 06:37 AM
Congrats! again, Ray.

Happy reading everyone. It's a good book.

When I receive my "real" copy, Ray, I expect an autograph. :D

01-24-2006, 07:38 AM
Congratulations, Ray. That's terrific.

01-24-2006, 07:43 AM
Rock on, Ray!!!! :e2headban You're a triple threat: actor, compulsive (yet entertaining) poster, and now a published author! If your ever learn how to sing (and I dunno if you can), you'd be unstoppable.

01-24-2006, 08:31 AM
Congrats on your big day!

Bliss, I worked in Charlotte for 3 months! I like that city.

I doff my fedora to thee, almighty spamster.

Well, if I had a fedora, I'd doff it.

I guess I'll have to make do with this bonnet of itchy dandruff.

I doff my dandruff bonnet to you, our next greater pole-sitter on the NY Times Bestseller List.

Best of luck.

Live long and score much!

Congratulations, Ray! I've got a Borders nearby. So I'll go pick up a copy soon.

and when the book becomes a movie - I think he should invite all of us faithful fans to his premier

01-24-2006, 11:30 PM
Is it out yet? Or are we down to just hours?

01-25-2006, 01:39 AM
It's out, I believe. At least until your store gets it...

I just did my first signing... well, sort of. I went over to the store and chatted with the event manager lady, and then I signed all the books. They put my books in two different areas -- "Local Author" and "Fiction." That's nice. They also had a "What's In Store" tag on the shelves so it's more visible. Also, they displayed the books face OUT. That's so cool. I'm psyched. It's kind of nice to be on the same shelf as Virginia Woolf. :)

01-25-2006, 02:01 AM
Which store is this?

Congratulations! Doesn't it feel awesome to see your book on a bookstore shelf?

01-25-2006, 07:43 AM
My eyes welled up with tears. What a wonderful dream come true. A hug and a kiss.

01-25-2006, 07:08 PM
Those who knew me since the beginning (what, like April 2004) knew of my struggle from trying to find an agent (I was just beginning to do queries and I came to AW looking for info on agents -- the Beware board's awesome) to getting through the editing process, and now this. Hopefully my journey was interesting to others, and you could find comfort to know that a first-time novelist can get published (OK, maybe not with Random House and a $200,000 advance). It is possible.

Thank you.

01-25-2006, 07:14 PM
I didn't join AW til October of 2004 so I missed some of your novel writing adventure(struggle).

But that sure looks COOL seeing your book on that shelf!!!

01-26-2006, 12:57 AM
Wow, that's great, Ray! Did you cry? I did, the first time I saw my book on a store's shelves. And my hand was shaking so badly I could hardly sign my name. Heehee. Good for you!!

I remember following along with your progress. I was mostly a lurker those days, so you never knew I was there. :D

Wasn't that you sitting on Ray's shoulder?

01-26-2006, 02:59 AM
No, this (good times):

01-26-2006, 03:54 AM
Ah! The good old Hot Tub days! Now that was a great group photo. :D

01-26-2006, 03:57 AM
The good old days. Funny, Moondancer is back, but the only person missing is my wife, Alphabeta. Where the heck is she? I'd better not catch her cheating...

01-26-2006, 04:22 AM
 Now that's funny.

I can't believe how much Joanne looks like my friend Sue in that picture.

01-26-2006, 08:03 AM
Seeing your book on the bookshelf is awesome, Ray. Brought tears to my eyes.

So did the "good old days" picture from the tub. Wow, I look really young there. ROFL Not to mention that my hair is nearly to my waist now.

And I've changed the feathers on my head. I don't have those red sticky-uppy ones anymore.

And I'm glad I wasn't using a photo avatar back then. Nice anonymous Indian girl avatar.

01-27-2006, 12:25 AM

Uh oh, Kathy!

01-27-2006, 02:59 AM
Oh no! Me and my big mouth.

Um....I think I have to go on a business trip for uh, a few months. See ya!

01-29-2006, 12:45 AM

This is so cool! I finally have my copy. Gee, but no thanks for the support in the House of Love on the "thank you" page. What a gyp!

01-29-2006, 05:05 AM
Ha ha, Kevin. I'll be done reading mine by the time you get yours.

01-29-2006, 05:26 AM
Hey Ray. My review of your book is a "Hot Topic" on BlogCritics today. It's been picked up by five or six different online publications. Hope everyone who reads it, buys it. :D

01-29-2006, 10:41 PM
I'm late to the celebration, but congratulations. The author interview on Amazon was nice -- good to see the background to it. I hope your career is long and fruitful!

01-30-2006, 01:10 AM
I believe my "thank you page" would be 3 or 4 pages long (for my next book) just to list all the names here. ;) Send $$$ if you want to be included. :)

01-30-2006, 01:28 AM
Congratulations Ray! http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/Emotesnoopy.gif
