Used to have a very lengthy list of these. Even titled it "overlooked gems." But I've since lost it. So I guess I'll just have to peruse my Flickchart (http://www.flickchart.com) to find some for you all. I'll even rank them for you... starting, of course, with my three favorite movies of all time (and including two more I rank in my top twenty).

01. Mary and Max (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978762/)

02. Dear Zachary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152758/)*

03. When the Wind Blows (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090315/)

04. Out of the Past (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039689/)

05. Playtime (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062136/)

*The less you know... the better. If you can stand to avoid it, don't even watch the trailer. Just be prepared to cry yourself dry. It's that kind of movie. But that's all the more reason that everyone should see it. The (true) story it tells is heart-wrenching, but it needs to be heard or else nothing will change.

Mary and Max isn't as obscure as it used to be, though. Not since it cracked the IMDb Top 250. Happy to see it now has more ratings than any other movie I listed. It's still quite overlooked, though. Haven't met a person who's seen it yet, but I've gotten 6 people to watch it so far and all but one (one of my older sisters, whose taste is vastly different from mine) enjoyed it, plus one girl said it's now also her favorite movie.

EDIT: Definitely going to give That Evening Sun a watch. 2009 was (and is), without a doubt, my favorite year for film. I've only seen more movies total from one other year and that's 2011, a year which simply cannot compare to 2009 in terms of the sheer wealth of quality movies. Many of those movies are rather overlooked (ex. Mary and Max), yet That Evening Sun's still somehow managed to fly under my radar. Hal Holbrook's been fantastic in everything I've seen him in (including Into the Wild, which I regrettably hated), so I'm excited for this movie.

Looks like some good stuff. Thanks! Agree with your love for Holbrook. And who can forget his small but pivotal role as Deep Throat in All the president's men. That evening sun to me, is one of those flicks that sits just right.

Watched one last night that people might want to check out. The Debt.
