I can almost taste it. Almost. This isn't an entirely WOOHOO news brief, but it's the best I have EVER gotten, and I'm so hopeful for more, so I had to share!

I got a referral from a fellow writer to George Nicholson of Sterling Lord!

My "query" was hardly anything: he just told me through my writer friend to send the whole manuscript via email. (Note: they don't even take QUERIES through email there unsolicited!) Then he got back to me in two months and gave revision suggestions, saying that if I did them he'd love to look at it again. He also gave me a reader's report on it to help with my revisions. I did the revisions, partly because he said to but also partly because I already knew they were areas of issue (his report just confirmed that for me), and sent it back about a month ago.

My fingernails taste nasty, but I really don't need them, right?

Congratulations! Every milestone is something to get excited about, at least that's how i feel. Now all you can do is be positive while you wait and keep writing. All the best!

Oh, and I'll post this too because it's kind of freaky cool:

So, I met my writer friend and he told me to drop his name in my queries, so I went home and did a few queries with his name in there. Then I thought, "hey, I wonder if he'd refer me to HIS agent?" So I called him and he said sure, and told me who his agent was.

Now, this is where things get freaky.

I'd just cleaned out my office, and set aside some SASEs to an agency I was planning on querying but had felt for some reason that the time wasn't right. Now, I'd queried TONS of agents by this time, and this was the ONLY one that I hadn't felt right about. When my friend told me his agent, I walked over to my desk to look at the SASE, as the name sounded eerily familiar.

Yeah. Same agency. Same AGENT.

It was... trippy. What are the odds?
