The PM announcement is finally up!

Anne Pillsworth's SUMMONED, The first in a dark, edgy and witty trilogy in which a sixteen year-old boy's emails draw minions of the god Cthulhu from the ether into present day Arkham, Massachusetts, to Jim Frenkel (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.publishersmarketplace.com%2 Fdealmakers%2Fdetail.cgi%3Fid%3D4607&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGfnlROduSgAG5oH-3G8rMDw90aLQ) at Tor (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.publishersmarketplace.com%2 Fdealmakers%2Fdetail.cgi%3Fid%3D2586&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEPqtlx_1I50Cl7QMgjJIa5d2Fnow) Teen, in a nice deal, for publication in starting in 2014, by Craig Tenney (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.publishersmarketplace.com%2 Fdealmakers%2Fdetail.cgi%3Fid%3D7044&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNHcS8zftzXXGDWo1AA6EN6ApZCo6w) at Harold Ober Associates (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.publishersmarketplace.com%2 Fdealmakers%2Fdetail.cgi%3Fid%3D3225&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNF6evgnNwAoAT2l319RGJFl-1g1kw) (world).

For those who question the power of sheer bloody-minded, bull-stubborn, utterly mad perseverence, this book burned through 281 agent rejections (explicit or tacit or still out at the time of my accepting rep) before the Outer Gods inspired me to double-check some agents who I thought weren't accepting unsolicited queries. The wonderful Craig Tenney was among those who actually were.

I queried. He asked for the full and read it overnight and offered rep the next day. Not long after, he (a much much sharper marketer than I, obviously) made a three-book deal with Tor!

I used to wonder about the credo that when you hit the right desk, the magic could happen.

Sign me up now as a believer!

Now back to work on Book Two, but first, many many thanks to AW for the long-ago query help and the continuous shoptalk and moral support! Love you guys.

 :e2kissy:

Whoa, edited to add bananas before they send the tarantulas after me:

I am just thrilled for you. I don't know you very well, but I've always admired your intelligent and clever posts, and I've watched your journey from afar, glancing at your sig line and all of those little emoticons which told us how things were going. And I've wondered MANY times, how you hadn't yet garnered an agent. I haven't read your writing, but judging from your posts, I had a pretty good idea that you know what you're doing. And now to hear that you didn't give up after all of that time, and that you came out wildly successful in this initial part of your journey -- that is just a wonderful, wonderful thing. I wish you the best in the days to come. Enjoy the ride.
