I just saw this thread on another forum and thought I'd start one here.

What are your favorite (and least-favorite) pizza toppings?

As for me:

Favorites:

pepperoni (real, not turkey)
bacon (real, not turkey)
hamburger
sausage
cheese
jalapenos
paprika
cajun spices
chili powder

Least favorites:

mushrooms

I don't mind olives, but I don't love them either.

Pepperoni and onions (as long as the pepperoni don't get turned into little grease bowls and the onions actually get cooked)

Though I've become very partial to white pizza: garlic sauce (not tomato), mozzarella (sometimes feta too), tomato slices and spinach. Very tasty, especially with the feta.

My favourite topping combination is simple: tomatoes, garlic, oregano & olive oil (on a thin crust). I first tried a pizza with this topping in Rome and it was the best pizza I've ever tasted.

For more complicated pizzas, my favourite toppings include:

  • pumpkin,
  • spinach,
  • sun-dried tomatoes,
  • olives,
  • red onion
  • mushrooms
etc.

This thread makes me want pizza. :D

pepperoni or sausage (not both on the same pizza)
black olives
mushrooms

It's my staple. I'm sooo boring. ^_^

Sometimes I like green peppers if I'm going to get 4 toppings.

A white pie with bacon on it has been a favorite I revisited more than once. White pie with sliced italian sausage as well.

Italian sausage
pepperoni
breaded chicken
breaded chicken + pepperoni

I do not like mushrooms, olives, or onions, on pizza or otherwise.

CAPERS?!

:scared::cry:

I don't know what it is, but they freak me the <garbled in transmission> out. I can't even look at them at the store.

Favorite toppings: the fruit 'n' crustacean special, shrimp and pineapple. If no shrimp, pepperoni and pineapple works well, too.

Pepperoni, mushroom, tomato, black olive, banana peppers. That's my immediate answer for all purpose pizza.

Other than that combo I like doing spanikopizza.

And pizzas made with pita bread crust, pesto for sauce, and little bits of all the jars of preserved things in the fridge (sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, cipollini onions, olives) are one of my standby emergency meals. Also very nice if you fold the pitza around some dressed shredded lettuce to turn it into a pitza sub.

So now I'm hungry.

Mozzarella, prosciutto or bresaola, arugula and balsamic vinegar for me. Bertucci's makes a pizza like this, and my friends always make fun of me by pointing out it's really more like a salad on top of dough.

I don't like tomato sauce or tomatoes (it's a problem), so I've kind of become a conossieur of white pizzas, whether with garlic sauce, pesto, drizzled balsamic or just olive oil. One of my other favorites is a simple alfredo, cheese, diced chicken and bacon bits combo.

Nothing in the US is really the same after you've had an Italian grandmother's pizza dough though... sigh.

Gotta say it: ham and sauerkraut. The secrets to pulling this off are many. The crust needs to be super thin and crispy, and the kraut needs to be drained well and patted dry, no, squeezed dry between paper towels, so the juice doesn't mess up the crust. Then, the ham needs to be super salty. Oh, yeah....

Least favorite: sun dried tomatoes, sliced tomatoes, and green peppers are good until they get cold. Then they are just vile.

Dude, reheat the pizza. 30-60 seconds in the microzapper, with a damp paper towel or small bowl of water in there to keep it from turning to rock inside of 7 nanoseconds.

Cold pizza's just gross. Don't see how anyone can eat it.

We don't do pizza anymore because my housemate can't have tomato stuff or cheese or processed meats of any kind. What's the sense of pizza without one or more of those things, y'know?

Actually, that doesn't sound bad. The sour plus salty is a great combination.

I love a deep dish Sicilian with extra sauce, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, olives, and red peppers. If there's any cheese at all, it's gotta be fresh mozzarella.

I'm also fond of thin crust with sliced Italian sausage, onions, and mushrooms.

My favorite when I was a kid in New England was a white clam pizza, preferably with a pitcher of birch beer. :)

White sauce, fresh meats & that pretend cheese vegans use.

Anchovies, Pineapple, Artichoke Hearts, Feta, Roasted Red Peppers and Black Olives, oh and Jelapenos

However since now I'm allergic to fish I have to substitute capers or crumbled bacon for the anchovies

Pineapple, pineapple and more pineapple! :D

Which reminds me of the other night, when I was driving home... I thought I saw a man dressed as a tiger trying to balance a pineapple on a bollard.

Turned out I was seeing things.

He was trying to balance a pot plant on the bollard. Silly me.
