View Full Version : Thanks to the Moderatorial Staff

As busy as we all are, what with welcoming new members, saying the first word that pops into our heads, counting to a million, and everthing else we must do each day to get ready to start writing, we sometimes overlook something...or somebody. There's a group of folks here who are almost like part of the AW family who I'd like to acknowledge, and that's the moderatorial staff, or "moderators," as they like to be called. These ubiquitous workers go about the day, cleaning up messes (being sure to sprinkle that pink substance afterwards that smells as bad as the mess did) and helping us wipe out the swear words we may have accidently written (so that kids doing internet searches for swear words never find our site). They may even do other things as well that we're not aware of, but I'm pretty sure those are the big two.

I'd like to share this story with you... Just yesterday, somebody vomited in the Comedy Cabaret. Cray was supposed to clean it up, but Haggis and Regdog ended up taking care of it. The point is, eventually, the rest of us were able to get back to starting to finish procrastinating and getting ready to start writing.

How about you? Is there some moderator you would like to acknowledge, or maybe even offer a token of thanks to?

I don't have a particular story about a particular moderator...however, I can say that this site is moderated extremely well compared to some other sites I am/have been on. You moderators deserve a shout out!

Williebee. I made a gaffe in P&CE a year or two ago. I felt really, really stupid and mortified, but he was very sweet and understanding behind the scenes. Made me feel a lot better, and I clearly haven't forgotten. Thanks Willie!

I also want to thank allllll of them for laying the smackdown on some of the crazies who pop up now and then. It's so hilarious.

Great idea, Meerkitteh!

I just adore the mods. They have a way of making you feel like you're part of a family. The first mod I'm going to mention is always supportive, funny, insightful and 100% naturally photographically wonderfully the best.

Three cheers for Dino, better known as Silver King!!

They diligently patrol the threads dispensing justice, advice and copious amounts of alcohol.

They’ve earned the new mod lounge sushi bar and hefty benefits package.

Seriously, I appreciate all of their generous efforts.

Yeah... it's a shout-out thread. And since I wasn't mentioned in the first 8 posts, I'm incredibly hurt, sniffling even as I type, and seriously considering throwing in the towel and giving up this writer/modder life to clean house. I have nothing to type for anyway...

I think the moderators at AW are spectacular. They handle "messes" quickly and consistently, and they do so while maintaining a fantastic balance of fairness and bad-assitude. Plus, I get the feeling most messes are cleaned up behind the scenes before most site members are even aware someone barfed (figuratively speaking.)

Even when I've, ahem, behaved like a bit of bad drunk myself, I've always felt I was dealt with very fairly. AW rocks, and the AW moderators rock!

When it goes out to a member, it's called a 'gift'.

When it comes in to a mod, it's called a 'bribe'.

And we like 'em BIG and EXPENSIVE.

I can't say enough about how awesome the mods have been every time I've had to nervously report a post, or a discussion's gone awry, or I've lost my temper over newspaper articles.

I'm able to talk about a lot of things here on AW that I normally wouldn't dare talk about online, out of fear of getting my facts wrong or the discussion spiralling into a flame war. The respect shown between members here is a great feeling. Thank you all for that. :)
