I hope no one minds me doing this, but I need your help.

There's a charity here in Kent called Catching Lives. It's a homeless shelter that does so much for people. Not just beds and food, but donated clothes and supplies, Big Issue vending, dental care, health and - vitally - mental health care, help accessing services and so on. The shelter is even more vital because they're the last shelter of this kind operating in the whole of Kent.

And they're facing closure in November due to a funding crisis.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you guys how bad things could get if the homeless population of Kent find themselves suddenly without access to adequate shelter, food or medical care in the middle of Winter. My other half was homeless when we met, and it was Catching Lives that took care of him.

The charity are just in the process of setting up an account with Just Giving, and as soon as they do I'm going to engage in a fundraising effort. A few of you probably know I have a little online shop where I sell stuff I make. Once the JustGiving account is set up, I'm going to take a break from stocking my shop and will instead be making items to auction off to raise funds for the shelter.

What I would really like, is for people to spread the word about the charity, and about my fundraising plan. I'd love it if fellow creative types would be willing to donate items to the cause. I'm going to donate my contributor copy of Absolute Visions to it, in addition to my handmade bits and bobs. I'd really, really, really love if some of you could consider bidding on items and donating to the charity, when this all happens.

I'm going to keep various outlets updated as I get more news (can't set a date for the auction until I know the JustGiving thing is set up), but here's my posts about the whole thing so far, so people can spread word.

Okay I figured the easiest way to do the charity auction when it happens is to have a blog where people can comment to place their bids. Obviously nothing can happen until the charity have an account with JustGiving, but this way I'm ready for them when they do.
