Inspiration Strikes!

Last night, overtired and not concentrating on what I was doing, I had a Dr Who episode running around my head, analysing the plot holes. Then for some reason my brain fixated on the words mackerel, and peaches. And now I have a rough plot, 2 pages written and various scenes being plotted out in my mind.

Just wondering where you guys find inspiration strikes from?

A lot of it comes from my thoughts on creating characters or certain scenarios.

Now, inspiration that keeps be going is mostly from music. TV shows and all that, ah, not so much.

Usually it strikes after I have started writing something.
I have J.D.-esque fantasies (Scrubs) and write short little scenes, which when I look at inspire me to take them in directions.

I'm not sure where it comes from, but it invariably arrives just when I can't jot it down! (ie. in the shower, or when I'm standing on a crowded bus).
