So there's a bomb

The police think there is a bomb sitting on the platform of the building across from ours. The place is crawling with cops and all taped off.

Our building is a chemical plant.

I would think so. Petrochemicals can be a wee bit volatile. Fortunately they're stored in back. The front offices (where I am) are a lot closer to the excitement.

They are waiting for a bomb squad from Lansing. That is 101 miles from here, about an hour and 45 minutes.

I'm not telling my husband though. He's a fretter.

A big navy blue truck just arrived. Pretty sure that's the bomb squad already. Makes sense I guess, since the cops were already here at 7:15 AM when I arrived.

Oh, cool. They are actually sending a robot after it. It's this wheeled doohickey with red shield.

No 'splosions yet. I think we should be fine. We're right next to a bridge, and they haven't closed that all the way down (although southbound lanes are closed, they're closest to our side). I'm sure they'd evacuate everyone and close off the bridge entirely if they were really concerned.

The bomb itself looks pretty small, maybe 12-15 inches of pipe. The robot looks remarkably like Number 5 from Short Circuit. I'm expecting Ally Sheedy to show up and start whining any minute now.

It's an electric company.

Once our hard hitting newspaper reporters weigh in, I'll link to the story.

So far, this hasn't even made their Twitter feed.

It appears that life in our little industrial park has returned to normal. Back to our regularly scheduled uneventful mundane Monday.

WJR considers us "outstate Michigan" which is fancy talk for "nonexistent."

Our local paper still hasn't weighed in. Although they did do a story about 6-year-olds playing with a lighter.
