So my novel passes in Italy and it's an urban fantasy/crime novel. One thing, though: I have a loose idea of how the police works there but basically all crucial questions remain.
1)Are the detectives allowed to watch an autopsy?
2)How the Scientific Police and the detectives communicate? Do they get in touch at all, for that matter, or is the relationship between forensic professionals and the detectives mere exchange of information on a common database used by the Police...?
3)Would it be safe to base myself in other crime novels/series? I've been mostly using Tess Gerritsen's novels as a guide, but I'm sure I would be wrong to assume they do things in Italy the same way they do in Gerritsen's novels... Or C.S.I, for that matter.
4)The Scientific Police has a building for itself (or so Google tells me). Is it true?
So... Help?
