Northeast Washington State residents?

Hi, guys!

I'm looking to set a new series in northeastern Washington. The area I'm thinking is around Republic, WA in Ferry County. Anyone familiar with the area? Specifically, I'd like some seasonal stuff that someone new to the area would notice as being unusual. The area looks very similar to where I lived in Colorado, which is why I picked it.

I could also use some info on Curlew Lake and seasonal tourism.
