Sweded Movies: the end of Hollywood as we know it? (http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/jul/05/sweded-movies-end-of-hollywood)

It's hypothesizing that Youtube/ "folk cinema" is to Hollywood what self-pubbing is to the big publishers. More or less. They didn't use that analogy, but that's what it boils down to.

And how are the good movies going to avoid drowning in a sea of cute baby animals, and young men trying home dentisty via skateboard?

Darn. I was hoping it would be about people making their own original movies, and not fan fiction. :)

There are a lot of people creating original works out there on the interwebs, but they are scattered across numerous sites - the reason that, until now, they have been largely ignored is due to the sums involved. As soon as someone makes a LOT of money, then there will be heightened attention drawn.

And right now, there is no way for us to do that. We just hope people like our work. :)
